How old does my child have to be to attend one of your sessions?

We'd love to welcome your little one to our creative classes! Our art and craft sessions are specially designed for children aged 6 months up to 4 years old.
To make sure every child gets the most out of their experience, we gently divide our classes into two age groups, each tailored to their unique stage of development:
Dinky Dots for our youngest artists, from 6 months to 18 months.
Crafty Crew perfect for our more mobile and curious creators, from 18 months up to 4 years old.
So, if your child is 6 months and above, they're ready to join the fun!
Looking for more creative fun? On weekends and during school holidays, we often host special sessions where older children are also welcome to join in! And guess what? We also throw bespoke birthday parties for all ages!

Why are your classes divided into different age groups?

The majority of our classes at The Sticky Studio are thoughtfully separated into different age groups, and there are two key reasons why we do this. Firstly, there are huge developmental differences (as you can imagine!) between a 9-month-old and a 4-year-old. We want to ensure that when you bring your little one along, everything in that class is perfectly suited for their age group, allowing your child to get the maximum benefit out of all the wonderful activities on offer.
For example, in our Dinky Dots classes, every single activity is specifically designed for babies aged 6 months to 18 months, all crafted to stimulate and aid their development – alongside heaps of wonderfully messy fun! Then, in our Crafty Crew classes, we often dive into developing specific skills, exploring different mediums and techniques that our Dinky Dots friends wouldn't quite be ready for. We might also use smaller parts that aren't suitable for babies who are still exploring with their mouths.
This leads to our second crucial reason: it's all about health and safety too!
However, we completely understand that sometimes you want to bring the whole family along to get creative together. That's why we also run Family Sticky Studio mixed-age classes during the school holiday! In these special sessions, we cleverly 'zone' our activities to make sure everyone, from the tiniest tot to the older siblings, can have lots of colourful, creative, and messy fun safely together!
Can I bring more than one child along to the classes?

Yes, absolutely! We love welcoming families to The Sticky Studio.
If you're bringing two or more children to the same term-time class, we're delighted to offer a special sibling discount for your second and any subsequent children.
And, if you have a tiny tot who's a little younger than the recommended starting age for that particular class but you'd like them to tag along, they're more than welcome to join us free of charge!

Do I need to bring anything along to the sessions?

As part of our commitment to a clean and safe environment, and following our infection control policy, although we will provide everyone with the tools they need, we kindly encourage our mini artists to bring their own painting tools along to class. This really helps us limit the sharing of equipment.
When it comes to clothing, for our baby classes, your little one will be perfectly fine in just a vest or T-shirt and a nappy. If you'd like to cover their little legs, an old pair of trousers or leggings works great.
For our older classes, please dress your child in something you absolutely don't mind getting wonderfully painty or messy! It's important that your child's torso is covered at all times. While we always try our very best to use materials that won't stain, we can't completely promise that some colourful marks won't occur, so please, old clothes only! We also offer super cute Sticky Studio T-shirts and baby vests perfect for wearing at classes – they're not compulsory, but many parents find them ideal for all the messy fun, both in class and at home!
In all of our classes for the under 5s, we kindly ask you to bring a few essentials: a towel, some wipes, and anything else you might need to clean your child during or after the session, plus a spare change of clothes! We also appreciate it if you could bring along some nappy sacks or a carrier bag to take your rubbish home for safe disposal.
Bringing a carrier bag or another suitable bag is also a brilliant idea to help you transport all those amazing masterpieces home! Alternatively, you can purchase one of our fabulous Sticky Studio portfolios!
Since the pandemic, we are not able to provide a drink during class, but please feel free to bring your own from home – all that Sticky Studio creativity can certainly be thirsty work! We kindly request that no food is to be consumed in the studio as we must be sensitive to potential allergies contaminations.
Do I need to pre book a session or can I just turn up?

All of our Sticky Studio sessions operate on a pre-booking basis, and there are a couple of reasons for this! For the safety and enjoyment of everyone, places in our classes are limited. Knowing exactly how many children are joining us each week allows us to meticulously plan and offer truly high-quality activities – plus, it ensures we always have plenty of exciting materials and resources for every little artist!
Our experience also shows that children benefit so much more from attending classes on a weekly basis. It's through that regular attendance that they truly blossom, developing confidence, honing new skills, and even forming lovely friendships. Ready to join the fun? It's super easy to book your child's spot – just hop over to 'Our Classes' page!

What if my little one doesn’t want to take part in all of the activities?

No worries at all! Our Sticky Studio sessions for the Under 5s are specifically child-led and designed around free-flow exploration. Your little artist is completely free to explore and engage with as much or as little as they (and you!) feel comfortable with.
Just like with any new adventure, some babies and young children might feel a little overwhelmed during their very first visit, and that's perfectly normal. They might prefer to gently observe or stick to just one or two activities. However, our experience consistently shows that after just a couple of visits, they'll become familiar with our friendly environment and the class routine, soon happily and confidently exploring the full spectrum of creative activities on offer.
Similarly, if your child's initial instinct is to simply zoom around the room – that's fine too! Again, we've seen time and again that they quickly become familiar with the flow of our sessions, and their concentration span and ability to focus on activities will blossom beautifully. Children are amazing learners, often absorbing so much through simply observing and imitating the other children already happily engaged in the creative fun.
How do I pay for the sessions?

Payment can be made by card when booking on our website.
You can find out more information on booking a class and our full booking terms and conditions on our home page.
